SKETCH CHALLENGE #3

Sketch Challenge #3: Sponsored by My Favorite Things

Kim van der Sanden opened a business in 2006 called My Favorite Things which initially only carried paper-crafting products that were her favorite. Since then, MFT has grown to become a well-respected and well-liked industry favorite!

I really enjoy doing challenges like the one My Favorite Things puts out every week called the 'Sketch Challenge'. A Sketch is a drawing, a diagram in cardmaking and scrapbooking, that gives a suggestion to the size, shape, and layout of the elements of the front of your project.

Each week, My Favorite Things sponsors a Sketch Challenge encouraging papercrafters to bring their creativity to life! Although it's not required, MFT would love to see their products used in the making of your card. Just upload a picture of your card to their website and they randomly choose a winner of a $50 gift voucher to use at My Favorite Things!!

TIP: If you are in need of a URL for your photo, first download it through Photobucket. Very easy instructions to follow. Below you will find a link to Photobucket which is a FREE place to store, edit, share, and 3rd Party Image Host your photos.

MFT Sketch Challenge #420

This sketch looks simple. There are some examples of inspiration created by some of MFT's Design Team on the website. I have some inspiration of my own right here!

I like to think 'outside the box'. Circles do not necessarily have to be circle nor do lines have to be exactly the same width apart. That is 'the challenge' for me! The other is to write this blog for you before it's too late for you to enter the contest!

Here is my interpretation of this week's challenge!

"May your LOVE grow more beautiful with each passing year"  from My Favorite Things' Together Forever Stamp set, is the gold embossed sentiment inside.

I used fancy scalloped edge dies at the end of the front of the kraft card base. I layered gold glitter cardstock from Scrapbooking Made Simple with a gold foiled pattern cardstock from Pebbles cut with the same die.

I trimmed the front of the cardstock, a 1/8" on each side, making the flap in front a little smaller.

Gold embossed raised florals on Kraft cardstock, represent the circle in the sketch. These floral stamps came from Simon Says Stamp's retired Handwritten Floral Greetings Stamp set.

I can't wait to see what you have created for this challenge! Please share with me and others on my Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/LoriEllenDesigns

I may send this card to my sister in Colorado but there are other cards and mini album cards available in my Etsy Shop, LoriEllenDesigns

Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement for my blog and my Facebook page. My wish is to grow a Community that shares, with kindness and enthusiasm for paper crafting!

Remember, great things happen to those who create!
