A little late this week, I posted my entry into Color Challenge #108 sponsored by My Favorite Things. This is where you can find this card challenge:

And this is the card I submitted:
The picture is a tad dark but I did use the deep navy in the flowers and stamped the sentiment inside.
I placed a 4 1/4"x 5 1/2" (A2) piece of Canson 140# Watercolor paper into my regular sized Misti and stamped the largest floral image from the Simon Says Stamp Sketched Florals stamp set with Versafine Claire Nocturne ink. Adding clear embossing powder, it was heat set. After placing a piece of Neenah 100# Exact Index cardstock in the same place in the Misti, I stamped the same image in Simon Says Stamp Barely Beige dye ink, without changing the stamps position.
Using Zig Clean Color real brush markers and a water brush, I painted the embossed image.
Using my Fiskars 12 Inch Rotary Trimmer, I carefully removed eight (1/8) inch all around the beige outlined card.
Around the watercolored card, one and a half (1 1/2) inch was trimmed leaving 3 1/8"x 2" in the center. This didn't leave much of the colored part left! I was so sad to have to cut apart all my work so I decided to try to make something with the scraps.
Once both pieces were trimmed, the 'blank' panel was glued to the front of a 4 1/4"x 5 1/2" landscape facing card base leaving a one-eighth border. The word 'Thanks' was stamped and embossed in the right-hand corner, just below where the center panel would fall.
Foam tape was added to the back of the smaller, watercolored panel and it was carefully placed so that the pattern was continuous from side to side.
The last bit of magic was to take a Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss Pen and easily, carefully color in the center teal flower. Adding too much at once or pressing will move the watercolor.
While I had the stamp out for the design, I stamped, using the Barely Beige, in the left-hand corner of a piece of cardstock cut into 4"x 5 1/4". I added a sentiment and attached it into the inside of the card. Don't forget to sign the back of your masterpiece!
It still bothers me that I cut apart my watercolor. I know I will do something with those pieces! Maybe a solution is to trim the image BEFORE it gets colored. Hmmm...
Remember, great things happen to those that create!
Items I used are linked below by a picture. I am in NO way affiliated with any of these companies. This is the business I purchased it from or the cheapest I could find! Happy Crafting!
